Giant summer heirloom tomatoes found their way into a fresh and bright Israeli salad. Served with ground turkey Kofte, lavash bread and steamed carrots.
Wasn’t sure how the kids would take to the salad…one refused to touch and the other tried a cucumber piece, and then several more pieces. One out of two ain’t bad!

Have an unfocused toddler at your table? Try offering different utensils to pique their interest and join them in the food play! That’s what I did the other morning when trying to encourage my daughter to eat some strawberries instead of the bag of mini M & M’s at breakfast. We learned about sizes - she forked the biggest piece with the biggest fork and the smallest piece with the smallest fork. We talked about colors when I asked her if she wanted to use the orange fork or the pink fork. This spontaneous food play activity changed the vibe at the meal and she cared less about what was being eaten and more about how to eat it. And we both had fun! What kind of food play activity do you invite your child to play?
Happy Valentine’s Day! This Shepherd’s pie is a family favorite. I use lean ground beef and add more carrots, onion and peas than any recipe calls for, then top with “skinny” mashed potatoes before dotting with butter and broiling. (Skinny potatoes = potato skins in the mashed potato.) Huge side salad not pictured. #buttermakeseverythingbetter #homemadelove #wholefood #livelieryou #whatrdseat
